Referral process

  1. Get a quote

Fill out the client referral form and get a quote/invoice. Both the Umps Home Alarm and Mobile Alarm fall under Low Cost AT, so most referrals don't need an AT assessment.

  2. Add to the participant’s plan

Attach the quote to the participant's plan budget under Low Cost ATusing support item code 03_090000911_0103_1_1. Mid-cost AT (above $1,500) needs a written AT assessment from a qualified clinician.

  3. Send us the purchase order

Once the participant or plan manager has approved the alarm, email the purchase order to referrals@umps.com and we’ll dispatch a pre-configured device.

  4. We ship, onboard, and invoice

The alarm arrives ready to use. We onboard the participant by phone, confirm it works throughout their home, and invoice the plan manager or the participant directly.

What you need to refer

Have these to hand and the referral form can be filled out in a few minutes.

  • Participant details and consent to refer
  • Plan management type — plan-managed or self-managed (we aren’t NDIS-registered, so NDIA-managed plans can’t be invoiced through us directly)
  • Chosen device: Home Alarm, Mobile Alarm Wrist, or Mobile Alarm Pendant
  • Monitoring preference: 24/7 Professional or Family Response
Good to know

Plan-managed and self-managed participants only

Umps isn't a registered NDIS provider, so participants on NDIA-managed plans can't be invoiced through us directly. Plan-managed and self-managed participants can both access the full range without restriction.

Common questions

Plan-managed: we invoice the plan manager. Self-managed: the participant (or their nominee) pays and claims back through the portal.

Umps isn't a registered NDIS provider, so NDIA-managed participants can't be invoiced through us. Some choose to switch a portion of their plan to plan-managed to access non-registered providers — their plan manager or LAC can help with that.
